I want to thank Sarah Jones-Larson of What A Wonderful World for showing me this article that came out last week about science looking to uncover the truth about out of body experiences. I wrote a post called Transition Of The Soul which was about an experience I had with a bus driver telling me about her brother’s death and his actions and words as he neared death.

The article explains that at the University of Southampton in England a team of scientists will examine some 1500 people over a three year period. The people will be classified as clinically dead but then brought back to life. They will use patients from hospitals in the UK and the US. They will interview these people but also do some tests to determine in their estimation if there is a separation of consciousness and body during these times.

Of course they will be looking at it from a clinical basis with possibly a bias as to the veracity of the people’s stories. They will do things like put images high up on shelves in the patients rooms so they can only be seen from above and then ask them if they can recall what the pictures were.

I laughed at this quote from one of the doctors on the project;

‘If you can demonstrate that consciousness continues after the brain switches off, it allows for the possibility that the consciousness is a separate entity.

‘It is unlikely that we will find many cases where this happens, but we have to be open-minded’

The stories that I have read about people who have had near-death experiences have so many obvious similarities that I am not sure how anyone could doubt that consciousness or the soul or spirit is not a separate entity from the body.

It will be fun to hear the results of this study although it will be a long time before it is released. Lot’s of things can and will happen in this, the critical times coming that may make it a mute point. I love it when science gets into studying spirit.

Can’t Sleep? Try This

** CAUTION ** If you believe your body is just a mass of carbon blob floating in a bunch of water, forget reading this. It will be new age baloney and won’t work anyway. This sleep system is not about counting sheep or taking a pill.

Still reading? Our bodies are made up of carbon, nitrogen and predominately water(H20), but there is also an electromagnetic field that flows through and around it. This is the same for every living thing including the earth and all the planets and astral bodies. This is unseen to the naked eye but is very real and affects many processes such as consciousness, communication, our memories and is part of what connects all things. It also consists of portals or chakras that allow information or energy to enter our bodies. It also greatly affects our overall health.

About 20 years ago Peggy Dubro originated an energy healing modality called the EMF or electro magnetic field technique not to be confused with EFT. It is based on the knowledge that this field exists and that by using this lattice or web, as she calls it, we can tap into the perfect energy that it consists of. We can achieve balance in the physical and mental areas of our body. Balance and unblocked free flowing energy or chi is the key to perfect health.

I use a small piece of her technique called the Spiral Sweep to put myself to sleep. I do it every night to not only put me to sleep but to keep the chi or life force energy (there are lots of names for it) flowing through me freely. I began doing it for the energy flow but found it that it works great for natural, drug free help for insomnia.Heavenly Sleep by musicmuse_ca-Flickr

A lot of people have problems sleeping because their minds keep chattering at them. This process uses the mind or consciousness as an ally to work with the body instead of the fight that sometimes goes on when we are trying to get to sleep.

This is my version of it, so it is similar but not the same as Peggy’s Spiral Sweep. The basic idea is to use this universal perfect energy that is circling around and through your body to relax and allow sleep to follow.

The Skeletal Sweep

Start by laying on your back with palms flat. Make sure that your hands aren’t touching your body. Envision this energy swirling in a circle at the bottom of your feet. Use your mind to bring that energy into the soles of your feet. Slowly you will take this energy and go through all the bones in your body, hence the name skeletal. Into your ankles, up your calves, knees, thighs and hips. This can be done as slowly or as quickly as you choose. The main thing is to feel it by focusing on each bone. Bring it up your spine, vertebrae by vertebrae. When you reach the top of the spine let it flow into your shoulders, breastbone down your ribs. Then down your arms letting it flow out your hands. You should be able to feel it flowing strongly out your hands. Flow the energy flow back up your arms into your face and skull with a feeling of it glowing like a crown on top of your head.

Lay with that for however long you want feeling the energy flowing smoothly through your body. I am usually asleep by then but there is more if you are still awake.

The Endocrine System Sweep

Peggy goes into much more detail here but what I do is, as I feel it radiating on top of my head, I will bring it into my cortex (top of the brain) then below it to the white matter. Next to the pituitary glad which is above the eyes in the middle of the forehead. Then I let it flow into the all important pineal gland. Stay with it there for a while. Then bring it down to the pons which is at the base of your skull on the back of the neck. Move the energy into the thyroid gland which is in the front of the neck, down to the thymus. The thymus is also a very important gland in the whole picture as it is called the second heart. It is a distribution point for energy through the body. Next is the pancreas, flowing to the back to the adrenal glands which sit on top of the kidneys. Next I go to the liver and down to the sexual glands, ovaries or testes. Lastly I bring it down the legs to return to the bottom of the feet to ground it.

Chakras Sweep

I never make it this far but if you still are awake you can then take the energy back up through your chakras. For those who aren’t familiar with what chakras are they are portals or openings in the elctromagnetic field that surrounds you. These, if you could see them, are like spinning vortexes like how water looks when it’s draining from a tub. Ancient Egyptians used a 13 chakra system but the most commonly used system is that of 8. These chakras are outside your body and about 6 1/2 inches apart.

The energy that you have brought back down to your feet is then brought into the 1st chakra. Move it up to the 2nd chakra which is about at the top of your legs. The next chakra is your root chakra which corresponds to just above the reproductive parts of your body. Bring the energy up to your stomach or solar plexus. The next chakra is your heart chakra. Let the energy flow through there as it, as a you can imagine, is the center of your being. Throat chakra is next where you speak your truth. The third eye chakra is just above your eyes in the middle of the forehead where the real seeing happens. Last and most vital chakra is the crown chakra. It is just above your head and the receiver of information from above.

La-La Land

Ok so if your not asleep by then you will have at least given your body a much deserved treat. I call it a juicing up. If you are reading this, then you may think I, am in la-la land. I guess I am, but it sure works for me. You can check out Peggy’s site here. She has a complete system that goes much deeper than this with practitioners located all over the globe. It is an alternative healing process that recognizes that there is much more to us than just a blob of biology. My kind of stuff!

Sweet dreams!
